Newborn and Maternity Photographer State College PA: Philtron Family

A little over a year ago I met the Philtron family when they booked me for their first Mini Session.  I schedule a phone call with every client prior to meeting them.  When Daisy and I chatted over the phone she asked a common question I receive from clients: “What should we wear?”.  My advice to all my clients is the same- wear clothing you already own and feel comfortable in.  Daisy was pleased at my response and I loved shooting them that first time.  It was such a breath of fresh air to have a family that wanted more then perfectly posed images of their family.  They wanted connection, memories and honesty.

I have had the pleasure of shooting them many times since our first meeting and when Daisy informed me that she was expecting their second child I knew immediately that their family was a great fit for an unposed documentary newborn photography session.  Along with most of my clients, Daisy also wanted the opportunity to capture some posed family portraits and individual images of her daughter as well.  To merge these two desires we met for a posed maternity session a few weeks prior to her due date.  During the maternity session we captured standard family portraits along with some natural moments playing in the park and on the playground.

The morning of their newborn session I arrived at 9:00AM.  Our session lasted 3.5 hours.  During this time I did not direct them in any way until the last 10 minutes when we captured a few family portraits.

This is to date my favorite newborn session.  The relaxed nature and openness of this family is undeniable.  The memories and moments we captured are not just perfected moments that portray an unrealistic perspective of life with two littles.  These moments are raw and honest.  They show the struggles and the joys of caring for these two precious ones.  I can only hope they become more precious with time.

Thank you Daisy and Jason for welcoming me so wonderfully into your life.  It is perfectly beautiful just the way it is.
